Friends are special people. We can't pick who our family is but with our friends we have a choice. They can be as diverse and unique as we choose them to be. Our friends can often also reflect the different stages and choices we have made in our lives along the way - both good and bad.
Today is my friend Maylene's Birthday. I wish she was here or I was there so I could celebrate with her. We met at IKEA 5 years ago. She seemed sweet and shy when we first met. The sweetness stayed but the shyness quickly disappeared. We have been friends ever since 2002. She has a wonderful sense of humor, a beautiful smile and the best hugs ever. She always knows how to make me laugh. She got a great job opportunity with IKEA and moved to Burlington, Ontario. I miss her dearly. When I came to work I always knew she would make me smile. She always had hugs for me everyday and I loved it - I miss your hugs Maylene!!!! Since I can't be there with her today - this blog is a tribute to her and friendship.
